Michigan Birds is a photography-first field guide to the birds of Michigan — every species on this site was found and photographed in the state, one bird at a time. Right now the guide covers286 species, from backyard chickadees to Upper Peninsula sharptails, and it grows as new birds land in front of the lens.
Each bird gets its own page: the photographs, quick identification facts, when to see it through the year, what it eats, the questions birders actually ask, and the species it's most often confused with.
The site is also a live, community-fed map. If you spot a bird at one of Michigan's parks, you can log it in about twenty seconds — no account, no forms, just pick the park. Those anonymous reports power the sightings map and the recent sightingsfeed, and help other birders decide where to point the car this weekend.
All sighting locations are public parks and natural areas — never private property. And all photographs are © the photographer.
